You used to love me
You knew I'm ready
You stood above me
And played for keeps with me
You can't keep living
This contradiction
Your head won't follow
Where your mouth goes fleetingly
Maybe they don't know
What they might have been missing
But they can't be remiss to try
Maybe they stumbled on
The piece that was missing
From the thief for his straying eye
I don't need pity
I kept my freedom
The spacious city
Made good vacationing
It's not surprising
The sun kept rising
In ways complacent
To your wasted hastening
Maybe he wondered
What they thought worth resisting
If it ends in a blameless crime
Things that were said
That left better minds guessing
If the next one would make a rhyme
What's to get put right?
Never a thing
Spending the whole night
Complaining of anything
Taking my pain
For an excuse to cry loudly in vain
I want to suffer
The same delusion
I want to make it
Past the last insanity
Who took his chances
Like any player
And stayed protected
Beneath a canopy
Maybe he wondered
What they thought worth resisting
If it ends in a blameless crime
Things that were said
That left better minds guessing
If the next one would make a rhyme
Maybe they don't know
What he might have been missing
In a race against faceless time
Maybe they stumbled
On the piece that was missing
From the thief with the straying eye
